We visited Ōmihachiman city of Shiga prefecture and purchased the Kakejiku (掛軸 Hanging scroll).

Kakejiku is one of the many traditional ways to display and exhibit East Asian painting and calligraphy. The painting style is called Suibokuga (水墨画 Ink wash painting, also known as literati painting). It is an East Asian type of brush painting of Chinese origin that uses black ink—the same as used in East Asian calligraphy, in various concentrations. For centuries, this most prestigious form of Chinese art was practiced by highly educated scholar gentlemen or literati.

This work is from the Sengoku period (from the middle 15th to the early 17th century), drawn by the artist Sekikei (石渓).
